The Prime Stream at CDL-Vancouver operates from Vancouver, British Columbia, Western Canada’s largest economic and scientific hub. The stream brings together many of the region’s most experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and scientists from diverse fields including quantum and supercomputing, software and hardware, infrastructure, robotics, and blockchain. CDL startups work with these mentors to sharpen objectives, prioritize time and resources, raise capital, and engage with experts working on the frontiers of research.
The startups attend five in-person objective-setting sessions between October and June. CDL is a non-profit organization. There are no fees for participation and CDL does not take any equity.
Who Should Apply?
The Prime Stream is particularly suited to coachable research teams and startups based in British Columbia and the West Coast of the United States. This stream is tailored towards early-stage companies (early venture or growth) or even projects (pre-incorporation); however, startups at all levels of maturity will be considered.
Example Innovation Areas
The list above is not exhaustive. Contact email@example.com to discuss the program and your venture with someone from the CDL-Vancouver Prime Stream.
CDL mentors include accomplished entrepreneurs, experienced operators, active angel and venture investors, world-leading scientists, engineers, and technologists. Mentors meet every eight weeks in Vancouver to help founders set objectives over the program’s nine-month duration.
Companies accepted to the CDL-Vancouver Prime Stream benefit from mentors and partners with the experience, motivation, network, and capital to navigate the complex process of developing and implementing climate-related technologies. Mentor and venture relationships are built through CDL engineered interactions and in some cases extend beyond the program through ongoing advisory roles.

“I think a company with great fit for the CDL will have two things. The first is a very strong technology. The CDL seems to do a good job of helping founders think through the overall business, especially first-time entrepreneurs who have a deeply technical focus. [Second,] is when the CDL is the first meaningful outside help or investment for the company. If you’re a serial entrepreneur, or working in a hot area, it’s a lot easier to raise through a VC, even at the seed stage it’s easy, but what’s interesting about the CDL is that we can serve pockets that are underserved.”
