Zach Jonasson

Managing Partner, Phoenix Venture Partners

Dr. Jonasson is a Partner and co-founder of Phoenix Venture Partners (PVP), a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm specializing in advanced materials and device technologies for select industrial verticals. He leads PVP’s investment focus in the life sciences and healthcare markets. Dr. Jonasson brings over 25 years of experience in venture capital and start-ups. He was a co-founder (and initial CEO) of ReForm Biologics, a co-founder of Crop Enhancement, and as a graduate student was part of the initial technical team at RCM (acquired). Prior to PVP, Dr. Jonasson was a General Partner and Kauffman Fellow at Seaflower Ventures, where his investments included Serenex (acquired), MetaWorks (acquired), and Valeritas (VLRX).

Dr. Jonasson earned a BS from Georgetown University, where he was a Rhodes Scholarship Finalist, and a PhD from Harvard University, where he was a Sackler Scholar. He has taught Market Research at Harvard Business School and Harvard College and co-authored two studies of applied real options and risk analysis. In addition to his investment and board roles at PVP, Dr. Jonasson serves on the board of the Oregon Translational Research and Development Institute (OTRADI), on the Commercialization Council of the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute (ONAMI), on the Advisory Board for the Oregon Innovation Cluster (OIC), and on the Advisory Board of the Life Sciences Institute (LSI) at the University of British Columbia.
