Walt Macnee

President, MasterCard Center for Inclusive Growth

As President of the MasterCard Center for Inclusive Growth, Walt Macnee is responsible for the overall success of its research and philanthropic endeavors. Walt is also Vice Chairman of MasterCard, where he spearheads initiatives to create meaningful public-private partnerships around the world. Prior to this position, Walt served as President of International Markets, and was responsible for MasterCard’s business in 210 countries. Walt was President of MasterCard Canada from 2001 through 2003. Prior to joining MasterCard, Walt worked in numerous positions with Toronto Dominion Bank (TD) beginning in Toronto in 1983. In 1986, he moved to New York where he worked in corporate finance and investment banking. Walt moved back to Toronto in 1995 to run Cash Management, and in 1997 took on the Visa business. Walt has a B.A. and B. Ed. from Queens University and an MBA from York University. He is currently Chairman of Antibe Therapeutics, a pharmaceutical startup listed on the TSX. Walt has been a Director of various charitable organizations including the Royal Conservatory of Music, Save the Children Canada, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, CAN Fund, and the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation. Mastercard is a Founding Partner of the Creative Destruction Lab.
