Anthony Lacavera is founder and chairman of Globalive Capital, a Toronto-based venture capital firm. Globalive Capital, founded in 2014, is a subsidiary of the Globalive Group and an investor in early- and mid-stage technology companies.
Anthony brings more than two decades of experience as a founder, operator and investor in telecommunications and technology related ventures. Following a series of progressively successful start-ups, in 2008, Anthony founded Wind Mobile, Canada’s fourth largest wireless carrier, successfully challenging the market’s dominant players. Known for his deep expertise in 5G and the next generation of networks, Anthony has founded, financed, operated and divested ventures in fields including augmented reality, e-commerce and web development. Anthony employs his extensive knowledge base to provide insight and analysis as a regular contributor on Bloomberg TV.
Anthony is involved in numerous accelerator and incubator programs including the Ryerson DMZ, Next Canada, the Entrepreneurship Hatchery, the Creative Destruction Lab, and MaRS Discovery District. He serves on the boards of numerous organizations including Startup Canada, the most recognized voice for entrepreneurship in Canada and speaks regularly to students about entrepreneurship.
In 2007, Anthony founded the SHAMBA foundation, a charity that applies the business principles of Globalive Capital to support other not-for-profit organizations in more effective fundraising and event organization.
A graduate of the University of Toronto’s Engineering School, Anthony was named an Honorary Fellow of St. Michael’s College and appointed to the Engineering School Hall of Distinction.
