Sam Ifergan is the President and CEO of iGan Partners, a Toronto-based venture group he founded that is focused on investing in medical imaging, healthcare IT, and data-driven SaaS companies. He has over 20 years of entrepreneurial, technology, and venture capital experience.
As an entrepreneur, Sam cofounded Visualsonics, a medical-imaging company that pioneered the first ultra-high frequency ultrasound systems. It was sold to Fuji-Sonosite in 2011. He also founded Brighter Minds, a digital media company that had an IPO in 2006, and Tri-Link Technologies, an IP-PBX company that was sold to Teltronics in 2001.
As an investor with iGan, Sam is the lead investor and Chair of eSight, which has developed electronic eyewear that enables the legally blind to actually see. He was the first VC investor and director of Meta, AI for the life sciences, which was sold to Chan Zuckerberg in 2017.
Sam is also a director and has been very involved with Exact Imaging, which has built a high-resolution ultrasound system for imaging prostate cancer, and MolecuLight, an imaging technology that has unique applications in wound care and cancer surgery. iGan is also the largest investor in Think Research, a leading clinical decision support SaaS company, where Sam is a director.
Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Sam advised Fortune 500 companies as a strategy consultant and held general management roles at NCR, where he led the deployment of enterprise-grade information technology systems. Sam has a Bachelor of electrical engineering from McGill University and an MBA from the John Molson School of Business.
