Dr. Ronald Bridges is a professor of medicine and recognized gastroenterologist, educator and leader at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. He remains committed to clinical practice and research. He is actively involved with the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) program and is affiliated with CDL-Rockies (Prime) and CDL-Toronto (Advanced Therapies and Neuro). Dr. Bridges is a private investor with an interest in medical devices and health innovations. He has invested in several CDL ventures.

Dr. Bridges has held several significant national and provincial leadership positions, including president of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, president of the Alberta Society of Gastroenterology, chair of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada) Gastroenterology Examination Committee, and medical lead for the Alberta Colorectal Cancer Screening Program and associate chief medical officer for the Calgary Health Region. Formerly, as the head of gastroenterology and senior associate dean (Faculty Affairs), he led and represented the faculty and University on several regional and provincial initiatives. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Alberta Academic Medicine and Health Services Program. Dr. Bridges has sat on several scientific advisory committees and participated in clinical guideline development. His work has been honoured with several awards.
