Robert Rohling is the Director of the Institute for Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems at UBC and hosts the HATCH startup incubater. He is also a Professor with a joint appointment in Electrical and Computer Engineering & Mechanical Engineering at UBC. Dr. Rohling’s research is in the field of biomedical engineering with specialization in medical ultrasound. His current research areas include adaptive ultrasound, 3-D ultrasound, elastography, image-guided surgery, and ultrasound transducers. He has founded two startups in these areas.

Robert Rohling received the B.A.Sc. degree in engineering physics from the University of British Columbia, the M.Eng. degree in biomedical engineering from McGill University, and the Ph.D. degree in information engineering from the University of Cambridge. He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 2019.
