Former President, CEO and Director, Progress Energy Canada Ltd. & Former President & Director Pacific NorthWest LNG.

In 2001, Mike and his partners recapitalized Progress Energy, a small microcap oil & gas company which he served as President & CEO of from 2004 through to 2016. During this period, Progress Energy was transformed into one of Canada’s largest unconventional natural gas producers and was sold in 2012 for $6 billion to PETRONAS the Malaysian state owed national energy company. From 2013, Mike has continued to serve in a leadership roles at both Progress Energy and Pacific NorthWest LNG advancing Canada’s natural gas exports to Asia in the form of Liquefied Natural Gas. In 2018, through it’s ownership in LNG Canada, PETRONAS and partners have commenced construction of the LNG export project with a projected investment in Canada of $40 billion.

In addition to Progress Energy’s Board, Mike also serves as a Director on the Boards of Enerplus Corporation, Precision Drilling, both public companies listed on the TSX and NYSE as well as a private company Reserve Royalty Income Trust. Mike is also active in Calgary area philanthropic activities and as an early supporter, is particularly proud of the United Ways All in for Youth initiative which provides vulnerable youth with the support they need to complete their high school education and the Shaw Charity Classic PGA Champions Tour tournament which since 2013 has raised funds for over 180 children and youth-based charities across Alberta.
