Mathew Platt is a Venture Manager in the Health Stream at the Creative Destruction Lab. Prior to joining the lab, he completed a PhD in human health at the University of Guelph, where he focused on advancing our understanding of and treatment options for heart failure. A recipient of a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from Guelph (with distinction), Mathew has 10+ years of education in the life sciences, a foundational understanding of human physiology, and an appreciation for the importance (and difficulty) of translational research. Apart from science, Mathew is passionate about career development. He volunteers his time helping graduate students transition from academia into industry with the Science to Business Network as their Director of Business Development, and founded the Guelph Chapter of this growing non-profit.
