Chad Bayne
Chad Bayne is a partner at Osler and practises corporate and securities law with an emphasis on mergers, acquisitions, and corporate finance in the technology sector. He advises clients on a variety of transactions including acquisitions and divestitures, venture capital and private equity financings, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and IPOs. As a founder and co-chair of Osler’s Emerging Companies Practice Group, Chad advises some of the most notable Canadian emerging and later-stage companies operating in the IT, digital media, biotech, cleantech, and industrial tech sectors as well as the venture capital funds and other investors that finance them. He plays a central role in Osler’s efforts at Rotman’s Creative Destruction Lab, Next Canada, AceTech Ontario, C100, and CIX. Before pursuing a career as a lawyer, he developed a wide range of industry-related experience in the IT sector as a computer engineer. He was named a Lexpert “Rising Star: Leading Lawyer Under 40” in 2012 and a “Lawyer to Watch” in the Lexpert® 2013 Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada and has been repeatedly recommended in the area of technology transactions in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, 2015-2017.
