Benjamin Alarie, B.A. (Laurier), M.A., J.D. (Toronto), LL.M. (Yale) is the CEO of Blue J Legal. As co-founder and CEO of Blue J Legal, he is committed to bringing clarity to the law through artificial intelligence and machine learning. As an academic, he holds the Osler Chair in Business Law at the University of Toronto and is an affiliate faculty member at the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence. After completing graduate work in law at the Yale Law School in 2003, he served as a law clerk for Madam Justice Louise Arbour at the Supreme Court of Canada and was appointed to the law school faculty in 2004. He has dozens of academic publications, and his research has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, and the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. He is a coauthor of several editions of a leading legal text on tax law, Canadian Income Tax Law, including the most recent 6th Edition (LexisNexis, 2018).
