Anya M. Waite (BScHon Dalhousie; PhD UBC) is CEO of the Ocean Frontier Institute, and associate vice-president of research (ocean), Dalhousie University. She was a post-doctoral scholar at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and Winthrop Professor in Australia, before becoming the section head of biological oceanography at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Germany. She won numerous teaching excellence awards. Internationally, Anya co-chairs the Global Ocean Observation System, and is Canada’s representative on the World Meteorological Organization’s Greenhouse Gas Study Group.
