Salesforce Developer

The Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a not-for-profit seed-stage program for massively scalable, science-based companies. Its nine-month program pairs founders with experienced entrepreneurs and investors to set focused, measurable objectives to maximize equity value creation. Founded in 2012 at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, it has expanded with locations in Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Halifax, Oxford, Paris, Atlanta, and Madison. Since its inception, companies that have participated in the CDL program have created more than $7.5 billion (CAD) in equity value.

The CDL-Technology team develops solutions using the Salesforce platform to optimize business processes and improve stakeholder engagement.

Summary of position

Under the Technology Lead’s direction, the Salesforce Developer will work closely with functional leaders, organizational units, and subject matter experts to develop solutions. This position will be responsible for Salesforce’s technical aspects, including data migrations, data quality, systems integrations, 3rd party applications, AppExchange products, and custom code.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ownership of Salesforce.com’s technical aspects, including data migrations, data quality, systems integrations, 3rd party applications, AppExchange products, and custom code
  • Responsible for developing in Visualforce, Apex, Java, AJAX, and other technologies to build customized solutions that support business requirements and drive critical business decisions
  • Technical leadership, setting best practices including integration and application development, deployment, testing (unit and systems), and iterative refinement
  • Seek out ways to utilize SFDC to improve processes and productivity, and make recommendations to support an organization scaling at a rapid pace
  • Define, communicate, and manage change management (release) process to develop and implement new applications/code and updates to existing applications/code

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or related field
  • 2+ years of previous development experience with Salesforce.com (Certified Salesforce.com Developer)
  • Solid understanding of and detailed expertise with Salesforce.com architecture and API
  • Detailed experience writing Visualforce and Apex classes and triggers
  • Proficiency in HTML, XML, Flex, JavaScript, ASP, SQL, Java or C++, SOAP-based web services
  • Experience using Salesforce data tools (Data Loader, Excel Connector, DemandTools, Eclipse Force.com IDE)
  • Strong understanding of relational databases
  • Demonstrative success with multiple Salesforce.com integration projects
  • Experience integrating Salesforce.com with other applications via real-time, batch, sync/async
  • Experience with scripted data loader, web services, cloud or on-premise middleware and other enterprise integrating technologies
  • Robust business analysis and functional expertise, including requirements gathering, creating/deploying solutions to end-users
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with business and technical teams

This is a 6-month contract position.
