CDL-Global Venture Recruitment Lead (Sales Operations & Startup Recruitment Focus)

About Us

The Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a nonprofit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies. CDL was founded in 2012 at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and has expanded to nine sites globally as of 2020. CDL-Global is based in Toronto at the Rotman School of Management.

Your Opportunity

As the Global Venture Recruitment Lead, you will be a key member of the CDL-Global team and work closely with the site’s Venture Recruitment Leads to plan and execute the venture recruitment strategy for the 2021/22 program year. For the 2020/21 cohort the CDL network admitted over 550 startup companies and founders across nine sites. You will be responsible for the oversight and coordination of venture recruitment activities across the network, monitor targets and performance, and provide guidance to the sites’ Venture Recruitment Leads. In addition to your primary responsibilities, you may be assigned special projects or allocated to support CDL site operations. This is an ideal role for an ambitious person with experience leading sales teams and an interest in science and technology-based early-stage startups. Please note that this is not a HR Recruitment or Talent Acquisition role.  

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and execution of the venture recruitment strategy across all CDL locations
  • Developing standard operating procedures and best practices for venture recruitment and selection across all CDL Locations 
  • Develop and deliver the recruitment portion of the annual Venture Manager Recruitment Training 
  • Liaise with Site Recruitment Leads and provide oversight for the execution of the CDL-Global recruitment strategy
  • Set recruitment goals and benchmarks with the Venture Recruitment Leads and track performance
  • Report to senior leadership on targets and performance metrics
  • Lead the annual recruitment performance evaluation
  • Liaise with the CDL-Global Marketing team to build brand awareness and support recruitment campaigns
  • Increase the adoption of CDL’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Marketing Automation Platforms
  • Liaise with the CDL-Global Technology team to develop the product roadmap of technology tools used by the venture recruitment team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree, Master’s Degree preferred 
  • 3+ years leading a sales team or similar experience
  • 2+ years of experience developing and managing sales processes in a sales operations role
  • Experience working with a CRM, Salesforce preferred
  • Entrepreneurial and highly motivated with a strong interest in startups; knowledge of the startup ecosystems and experience evaluating startups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to build relationships and foster collaboration
  • Strong, team-oriented work ethic with a willingness to work independently and autonomously
  • Highly organized with strong project management and strategic planning experience 
  • Knowledge about the Creative Destruction Lab and passion about the opportunity to work with science- and technology-based startups with the potential for massive scale and impact

Additional Information

Salary: $80,000 (on an annualized basis)

Term: 6-months with opportunity for extension
